It is Apoteket’s goal to inspire and help people achieve a life of health. The Group works with both consumers and operators on the nursing and health-care market.
Via pharmacies throughout the country, Apoteket offers private individuals prescription and non-prescription drugs, a wide selection of health-care products and counselling/other services aimed at promoting a life of health.
Apoteket also offers drug supply and knowledge-based services to enterprises in the nursing and health-care sector. The most important customers within this sector are county councils, municipalities and companies.
In 2008, the sales of the Group amounted to SEK 41,710 m. Operating earnings amounted to SEK 950 m. The average number of employees was 10,666.
Apoteket is a state-owned limited liability company, which has had the exclusive right to sell pharmaceuticals in the Swedish market since 1970. A reregulation of the Swedish pharmacy system was initiated in 2008, and, from 1 July 2009, the consumer market is expected to open up to other operators. Since 1 September 2008, the operation of hospital pharmacies has been exposed to competition.
It is Apoteket’s goal to be the leading market operator in the future health-care market and to continue to inspire people to live a life of health.
Highlights of 2008
- Net sales amounted to SEK 41,710 m (39,493).
- Operating earnings, including restructuring costs of SEK 160 m, amounted to SEK 950 m (588).
- Earnings, after tax, amounted to SEK 711 m (433).
- The government presented a proposal referred for consideration to the Council on Legislation, with suggestions regarding the shaping of the future Swedish pharmacy market.
- Apoteket scored a new top result in Synovate’s Annual Corporate Image Survey of Sweden’s strongest brands in retail.
The Satisfied Customer Index (SCI) survey also showed that customers are increasingly satisfied with regard to availability and product range.
- Apoteket was awarded the Recipharm International Environmental Award.
